Biography

Pierre-Benoit Marcion

Pierre-Benoît Marcion (1769–1840) was one of Napoleon’s principal ébénistes and suppliers of Empire furniture. Active in Paris from the late 1790s, he furnished imperial residences and elite interiors with mahogany furniture enriched by gilt bronze and painted decoration. His work combines geometric discipline, neoclassical symbols and the monumental authority of Napoleonic taste.
