Biography

Jean Joachim

Jean Joachim (1905–1990) was a French sculptor and wildlife artist associated with the modern animalier tradition. Admired by François Pompon, in whose atelier he worked, Joachim became known for stone and bronze animals reduced to smooth, essential volumes. His sculptures balance realism with abstraction, using softened forms, quiet posture and tactile surface to suggest animal presence.
