Johann Jakob Frey

Johann Jakob Frey (1813–1865) was a Swiss landscape painter known for atmospheric views of Switzerland and Italy. His paintings often depict mountains, valleys, ruins, and rural scenery with careful attention to light, space, and natural detail. Influenced by Romanticism and the classical landscape tradition, Frey combined topographical accuracy with poetic feeling, contributing to 19th-century Swiss landscape painting.
