Antoine-Samuel Adam-Salomon

Antoine-Samuel Adam-Salomon (1818–1881) was a French sculptor turned portrait photographer, exhibiting at the Paris Salon under the name Adama before studying photography with Franz Hanfstaengl in Munich. In Paris, after opening his first studio in 1859, his bust-trained eye shaped intensely modelled portraits through sculptural poses, chiaroscuro lighting and careful staging.
