Bord de la Seine. With lively brushstrokes, French painter Pierre Eug&egrave;ne Mont&eacute;zin has staged this view of a small village on the banks of the Seine, the tranquillity of the scene contrasting with the dynamism of the brushwork. Far away from big cities and hustle and bustle, life in this small village seems to proceed at a leisurely pace. As if engrossed in conversation, two figures pause on the riverbank, while another figure calmly goes about his work. The shiny surface of the water behind them reflects the bright facades of the buildings, in front of which individual residents of the village stroll leisurely along the pavement. The yellowish-brown crowns of the trees further indicate autumn as the season within this scene.&nbsp;<br />
