Description: Alexis Auguste Delahogue, an Orientalist from Soissons, is known for his colourful and lively views of the Middle East. Like other artists of the 19th and early 20th centuries, he paid homage to the myth of the Orient. He mainly painted scenes of everyday life, such as marketplaces or people at work.
This work depicts a caravan of Bedouins travelling through the heat of the Algerian Sahara, with the artist skilfully rendering the desert landscape and turquoise sky in vibrant colours.
