Description: Cobalt blue glass, gilt and chased bronze, ovoid glass form, on a round white marble base with a golden beaded frieze.

This arrangement, characterized by a charming contrast between the transparent blue of the glass body and the surrounding bronzes, rests on a marble pedestal with a gilt plinth. The arms of the tripod, accompanied by acanthus leaf decoration, terminate in sculpturally depicted rooster busts, which are connected by a delicate chain hanging with applied tassels. The vase opening is crowned by a hoop-shaped, finely profiled, ornamentally openwork bronze appliqué. A very related censer, similarly based on a tripod, is housed in the J. Paul Getty Museum, Malibu.
