Literature: Sotheby's auction catalogue: The Collection of the Margraves and Grand Dukes of Baden, Volume II, Baden-Baden, October 5 to 21, 1995. A comparable panel is shown in lot 385, with a reference to a panel in the Badisches Landesmuseum Karlsruhe. This panel was probably a gift from Cosimo III de Medici to Margravine Sibylla Augusta.
Description: Attributed to Francesco Ghinghi (Florence 1689 – 1762 Naples)

Marble and colored stones. Oil on copper. Ebonized wood frame with gilded appliqués. Mary and the Archangel Gabriel are depicted between geometric patterns in oval frames.
