Description: Cobalt blue glass, gilt and chased bronze, ovoid glass form, on a rectangular base with gold ornamentation.
This arrangement, characterized by a charming contrast between the transparent blue of the glass body and the surrounding bronzes, rests on a gilt pedestal with a gilt plinth. The arms of the base terminate in sculpted rooster busts, connected by a delicate chain hanging with applied tassels. The vase opening is crowned by a hoop-shaped, finely profiled, ornamentally openwork bronze appliqué. A very similar censer is housed in the J. Paul Getty Museum, Malibu.
