View of an ideal landscape with a central group of trees, flanked by a body of water and a path with peasants walking by. This cabinet painting, finely executed in the details of the foliage in the trees and the flowers in the foreground, with its subtle depth, can be attributed to the Flemish master, influenced by Jan Brueghel the Elder and Gillis van Coninxloo (III), based on its motif, composition, and style. Govaerts, who became a master of the guild in 1607 and was elected its dean in 1623, was one of Antwerp's most respected landscape painters and collaborated with other important artists such as Frans Francken the Younger.

Abraham Govaerts
Abraham Govaerts (1589–1626) was an Antwerp landscape painter admired for richly detailed wooded scenes. Probably linked to Jan Brueghel I, he specialised in cabinet pictures where dense trees, winding paths and luminous distances frame biblical, mythological or hunting figures, often added by collaborators. His forests combine Flemish precision, decorative colour and strong spatial depth.
