The work is related to a signed and dated portrait, presumably of the same subject, by Westerbaen I at Hardenbroek Castle, Driebergen-Rijsenburg, Netherlands (see E. Buijsen, Haagse Schilders in de Gouden Eeuw. Het Hoogsteder Lexicon van alle schilders werkzaam in Den Haag 1600–1700, Zwolle 1998, p. 266, no. 4, with ill.).
