Description: Francesco de Mura was an Italian painter who worked in Naples during the transition from the Baroque to the Classical period. He began his training there in 1709 under Domenico Viola. He later moved to Francesco Solimena, where he remained as his most important pupil and collaborator until 1730. In 1728, he married Anna d'Ebrù.
In 1741, he was appointed to the royal court of Turin to paint frescoes with mythological themes in the Palazzo Reale. During this period, he maintained close contact with the architects Filippo Juvara and Benedetto Alfieri, as well as with the painter Corrado Giaquinto, from whom he received important artistic inspiration. In 1743, he returned to Naples, where he was appointed court painter to the Bourbon kings.
