Description: Oval gold snuffbox
Suisse, late 18th century
The snuffbox is decorated with enameled gold interlacing, blue flowers, and white lozenges on a guilloché ground, alternating with neoclassical vase motifs. The hinged lid is centered with a polychrome enameled oval medallion depicting Paris offering the golden apple to Aphrodite, bordered with pearls. The edges are chased with friezes of enameled vegetal scrolls and pearls on a matte ground.
