Description: OVAL SNUFF BOX in gold, Louis XV period, Paris, 1763–1764, attributed to the goldsmith Jacques BOUILLEROT, who was admitted as a master in 1759 and died in 1793. Fine engraved and chiselled decoration in three-tone gold depicting agricultural trophies in a medallion on the lid and base, set against a fluted background within a border of posts, florets and shells; the sides decorated with fluting and Greek frets. Hallmarks: goldsmith; date letter Z; maker’s mark: farmer Jean-Jacques Prévost (1762–1768), hallmark: dog.
