Rectangular box with gently rounded corners, executed in purpurin and mounted in silver-gilt. The hinged lid is inset with a finely executed micromosaic depicting a view ofSt Peter's SquarewithSt Peter's Basilicain the background. The mounts are struck with the maker's markGS, attributed toGiacomo Sirletti, together with the Rome city mark.
