Biography

Louis Noël Malle

Louis-Noël Malle (1734–1782) was a French ébéniste, not a sculptor, received as maître in 1765. Working in the Faubourg Saint-Antoine, he produced Louis XV and Louis XVI furniture in rosewood, tulipwood, mahogany and marquetry. His stamped secretaries, bookcases and commodes show refined construction, decorative veneers and the practical elegance of eighteenth-century Parisian interiors.
