Pierre Roussel
Pierre Roussel (1723–1782) was a French master ébéniste active in Paris during the eighteenth century. He became a maître in 1745 and produced refined furniture in the Louis XV and Louis XVI styles. Roussel specialized in elegant commodes, desks, and tables, often decorated with fine veneers, marquetry, and gilt-bronze mounts. His work reflects the transition from Rococo ornamentation to neoclassical simplicity. He supplied furniture to aristocratic clients and contributed to the high standards of Parisian decorative arts.
