Biography

Robert Antoine Pinchon

Robert Antoine Pinchon (1886–1943) was a French Post-Impressionist landscape painter of the Rouen School. Encouraged early by collector François Depeaux, he developed a luminous Fauvist-influenced style without turning to Cubism. His Normandy rivers, fields, bridges and town views use strong colour, thick brushwork and shifting light to translate the Seine landscape into modern rhythm.
