Biography

Alexis Auguste Delahogue

Alexis Auguste Delahogue (1867–1953) was a French painter-traveller known for Orientalist scenes of Algeria and the Maghreb. Working alongside his twin brother Eugène, he painted desert encampments, caravans, markets and village life with a luminous, post-Impressionist touch. His works balance ethnographic detail with colour, sunlit atmosphere and the period’s fascination with North African landscape, architecture and daily ritual.
