Jean-Victor Bertin (1767–1842) was a French neoclassical landscape painter known for his idealized depictions of nature. A student of Pierre-Henri de Valenciennes, he specialized in classical landscapes inspired by Italy and ancient ruins, combining precise composition with atmospheric light. His works often feature harmonious rural scenes, architectural elements, and balanced natural settings. Bertin played an important role in shaping the development of landscape painting in early 19th-century France, bridging classical traditions with emerging Romantic sensibilities.
