Evert Collier
Evert Collier (1642–1708), also known as Edward or Edwaert Collier, was a Dutch Golden Age still-life painter celebrated for vanitas and trompe-l’œil works. Active in Haarlem, Leiden, Amsterdam and London, he specialised in letter racks, books, prints, globes, musical instruments and timepieces, turning painted objects into witty illusions about knowledge, status, mortality, politics and passing time itself.
