Description: Two-tone snuffbox (750) gold, decorated on all sides with fleurettes and chiselled reserves of concentric chevron circles on the lid and base, as well as wavy lines on the profile, in moulded frames decorated with translucent midnight blue enamel on a background of ribbon pulls or opaque white fillets and four pilasters (on the profile) with floral cartouches decorated with a drop. The edges are decorated with stylised pearl chains. Hinged lid.
The hallmarks clearly correspond to the three different hallmarks that together form the characteristic mark of the Toussaint brothers. There can therefore be no doubt that this is an authentic work by the Toussaint brothers.
The bird's head stamp is also found on the frame.
The unusual guilloché work on the gold box is noteworthy.
Prestigious marks imitating the Paris marks: De la Jurande de 1773 [K couronné] on the back of the lid and on the body.
