An elegant oval Louis XVI snuffbox, decorated on all sides with engine-turned panels beneath silvery-blue translucent enamel. These are framed by borders of white pearls and zones featuring floral motifs in red and green translucent enamel set against a *sablé* (stippled) ground. The lid features a fine oval enamel miniature depicting a fishing couple by the sea with a dog, in the style of Claude-Joseph Vernet (possibly an allegory of fishing or of the spring/summer season).
