Richard Friese

Richard Friese
Richard Bernhard Louis Friese (1854–1918) was a German animal painter, landscape artist and taxidermist. He became especially known for carefully observed depictions of wild animals, including lions, deer, elk and polar species, often represented within their natural environments. His travels and knowledge of animal anatomy strengthened the realism of his work, while his paintings combined scientific observation with dramatic landscape settings.
