Biography

Charles-Joseph Lemarchand

Charles-Joseph Lemarchand (1759–1826) was a Parisian ébéniste, not a sculptor, received as maître-ébéniste in 1789. His workshop produced refined furniture from the late Louis XVI period through the Empire and Restoration. Using mahogany, gilt bronze, marble and architectural forms, his cabinets and storage pieces served elite interiors with sober neoclassical authority.
