Jean VALETTE-FALGORES genannt PENOT (Frankreich 1710 - 1777)

Jean Valette-Falgores, called Penot (1710–after 1777), was a French painter from Montauban, best known for trompe-l’œil still lifes. His letter boards, pinned papers, cards, spectacles, shells and studio objects create witty illusions of depth and touch. Painted with precise shadows and material detail, his works belong to eighteenth-century France’s refined culture of visual deception.
