Biography

Jean-Charles Delafosse

Jean-Charles Delafosse (1734–1789) was a French architect, engraver and ornamental designer whose pattern books helped shape early Neoclassical decoration. Trained first in sculpture, he produced designs for interiors, furniture, trophies, frames and architectural ornament, often mixing fantasy with practical models. His plates translate classical motifs into elegant, inventive schemes for eighteenth-century decorative arts and refined Parisian taste.
