Gegerfelt studied at the Royal Danish Academy from 1861 to 1863, at the Royal Swedish Academy from 1864 to 1867, and then in Düsseldorf until 1872.
He exhibited his works in Monaco and Vienna in 1883. In Vienna, he won the silver medal.
