Description: During stays in France and Germany, the artist explored genres such as fashion drawing and copperplate engraving until he entered the École de Paris. Leaving his black-and-white, graphically dominated work behind, he developed a color- and light-filled Post-Impressionist style that brought him his international breakthrough. He found further inspiration on his travels through Italy, Spain, and North Africa.
In his paintings, which exude joie de vivre, Adrion depicts, on the one hand, the vibrant hustle and bustle of Paris and, on the other, the cheerful bustle on the beaches of Normandy and the Côte d'Azur. In addition, tranquil village and garden scenes from the area around Bièvres, where the painter lived for many years, also captivate.
The viewer feels as if he is being taken by the hand and guided through Adrion's dazzling France. The selected scenes and moments depict Adrion's very personal Paris and his most beautiful landscape impressions. He transports us to bygone urban landscapes and enchants us with poetic idylls of unmistakable charm. Through Adrion's loving gaze at bustling activity and serene ambiance, we discover a France we long to immerse ourselves in.
His works are captivating both in their selection of motifs and their execution. The compositions gain esprit through their warmth and friendly atmosphere. The master of colorism lets his paintings radiate colorfully and shine with sunny brightness. His sophisticated display of color is intense, yet always harmonious. Light and a loose pictorial structure paired with naive elements create a lightness, vibrancy, and sensitivity that delights and captivates in equal measure. Adrion's joyful use of color surrounds his work with a unique flair that knows no everyday gray, but only the joyful color of a Sunday.
