Shrouded in morning mist, the towers of Munich's Liebfrauenkirche rise high above the city's rooftops in this painting by Charles Palmié. The artist has captured the tranquil atmosphere of the Bavarian capital, which now seems to be slowly awakening from the calm of the night. The Munich morning glows in shades of blue and purple, captured in a snapshot by Palmié's masterful neo-impressionist execution, which has lost none of its appeal since its creation. It is almost as if one can literally feel the fresh morning air from the nearby mountains.
