Carl Milles was one of Sweden’s most significant sculptors. In 1897, Milles studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. From 1920 to 1931, he was a professor at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm. During this period, Milles received commissions from across Europe and overseas, and he was constantly travelling back and forth between European capitals.
