Description: Geneva, circa 1795

In the center of the lid is a rectangular miniature depicting the painter Apelles, Alexander the Great, and his lover Campaspe. Alexander is said to have given his lover Campaspe to Apelles after the painter fell in love with her while portraying her. The front is inlaid with the word "Souvenir" and small old-cut diamonds.
