Description: This red chalk drawing is a sketch for The Judgment of Paris, which Franz von Stuck developed into two paintings (Voss 506 and 564) and a relief. One of the paintings is now in the collection of the Frye Art Museum in Seattle, the relief in the Villa Stuck in Munich. In the final versions, the artist chose to depict Paris in an upright position. However, the bent arm resting on his knee and the hand position on the lance are already present in this sketch.
