Biography

Jacques Dubois

René Dubois (1737–1799) was a French ébéniste and the son and pupil of the celebrated ébéniste Jacques Dubois. He became a master ébéniste in 1755 and continued working within the family workshop. After his father’s death, he helped maintain its production and reputation. His furniture reflected the transition from the decorative richness of the Louis XV style towards greater neoclassical restraint.
