Description: Attributed to Giuseppe Valadier (Rome 1762–1839)

Giuseppe Valadier was an Italian architect, urban planner, archaeologist, and goldsmith.
This long oval oil lamp vessel on a tapered base is formed from a stalk of bundled palm leaves in the style of a leaf capital with four modeled lion claws. The lamp handle is in the shape of a dragon's head. A bull's head is centrally located at the spout, and the vessel features a round inner bowl, with a slightly domed lid above it. The rectangular base is made of shell marble on a white Carrara marble pedestal.
