Pierre Roussel, who obtained his master craftsman's license in Paris in 1745 and held a number of prestigious positions from 1760 onwards, was one of the best and most sought-after cabinet makers in Paris during his time. Between 1775 and 1780, he also worked for the Prince de Condé, competing with Leleu. He worked equally for French aristocrats and princes outside France.
