Description: Oil on paper on cardboard

Morgenstern created an atmospheric image of Italy in his late Romantic paintings. After traveling to classic Italian locations such as Rome, Naples, and Sicily in the 1930s, he repeatedly visited the lakes of northern Italy in the 1950s and 1960s. In the paintings he created there, Morgenstern creates a picture of a harmonious connection between man and nature, ideally enhanced by his artistic interest in the phenomena of color and light in the South.
